About the department

Nonsense Dept. is a small office of joke tools dressed up as government paperwork. Every form makes a silly result you can stamp, screenshot or share as an image card.

Under the bonnet

There's no AI here and no server doing the thinking. Every result comes from hand-written word lists, checked by a test that keeps out jokes about looks, health, money, religion and anything else that stops being funny when it's about a real friend.

Always being refiled

The department never stops filing. Word lists, excuses, fines and stamps are rewritten, extended and polished almost daily, and new forms open at new windows when they're ready. If a result made you groan, check back tomorrow: there's probably a better one by then.

Who runs it

The department is run by REPLACE_ME, a staff of one. Complaints may be sent to pending@nonsensedept.fun, where they will remain pending. Cases we can't close go to unsolvable@nonsensedept.fun.

The site is free, has no accounts and no tracking cookies. If it made you laugh, support the department on Patreon. Sharing a card helps just as much.

Frequently filed questions

Is any of this real?

No. It is a parody. No fine needs paying, no permit permits anything and the 8-ball has no committees. Please do not show a certificate to anyone official.

Where does my text go?

Nowhere. What you type stays in your browser and in the link you choose to share. There is no server reading it, and photos on the Wanted poster never leave your device.

Why does the same link always give the same result?

Each result comes from a random number (the seed). The seed sits in the link, so opening it again replays the exact same shuffle.

How do "Popular" and "Your desk" work without tracking?

Popular is a list the department updates by hand. Your desk, pins and counts live only in this browser (localStorage). Clear your site data and they are gone.

Why does an old link look a little different?

The word lists get new and better lines almost every day. A link always replays the same shuffle, but if the list it shuffles has changed, the wording can change too. The stamp and the joke stay in the same spirit.

Can I suggest a form?

Yes. Send it in and it will be filed under "Promising". Some of those even get built.
